Eddie Hines, Jr. Obituary

Eddie Hines, Jr. was born May 29, 1944, in Pickensville, Alabama to Eddie and Lillie Mae Hines. He was the tenth child of twelve children born to this union.

Eddie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and confessed his relationship at an early age. He attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Aliceville, Alabama. He proudly graduated from R J Kirksey High in 1964 and still maintained contact with his classmates. 

Eddie briefly lived in Georgia before moving to Chicago, IL in 1967. Shortly thereafter he began working for Consolidated Freightways as a certified diesel mechanic and retired after 28 years, during which he  earned numerous service awards. He also served as President of the block club and as President of the Hines Family reunion. 

Eddie joined Christian Hope M B Church in 1970 under the leadership of the late Dr. H.B. Brady (until death) and continued under Pastor Tyrone Baity.  Eddie served the church faithfully in many capacities, from teaching new membership class, Sunday Schools to serving on the Deacon board (Ordained 1993), Board of Trustees, and providing maintenance on the building.  Eddie served when and wherever he was needed. Upon his transition, he held the position of Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School Teacher.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Eddie Hines, brothers, George and Timothy Hines, and sisters, Willie Bell Brewer, Charlotte Hayes, and Mary Scott, son Michael Holloway, daughter, Alfreda Hinton, and grandson Tremaine Jackson.

He leaves to mourn his departure, two daughters, Ayanna Holloway (Lewis), Lazeth Craig, son, Alonzo Cribb(Veronica), Tasha Holloway. his daughter-in-law, four sisters, Clara Linder of Pickensville, AL, Lida Ratcliff of FL, Martha Hines of Memphis, TN and Lillie Wilson of Memphis, TN. One brother Joel Hines (Jake) of Pickensville, AL. His beloved friend and companion Linda Grissom and sons Van, Terence, and Lawrence. Seven precious grandchildren, five great-grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbors.
