Edice L. Redmond

Edice L. Redmond was born on June 30, 1940, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the late Henry and Callie Clemons. She was the ninth of fifteen children in her family.

Raised in a devout Christian household, Edice accepted Christ at an early age. Her life was marked by a deep passion for serving God and bringing joy to those around her. Edice loved unconditionally and so many times she put others needs and wants before her own. She loved singing, fishing, cooking, cleaning, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, and spending quality time with family and friends, and let’s not forget her scratch off bingo cards. Edice was sweet, loving, and caring. She was cherished as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In 1956, Edice married Isaac McWilliams. They welcomed three children: Howard and twins, Therman and Herman McWilliams (Herman who sadly passed away as an infant).

Years later, she moved to Illinois and married Hizzie Redmond in 1966. They enjoyed many years together building a life filled with love and family. They settled in Joliet, Illinois, where she dedicated over 30 years to Johnson & Johnson, retiring in 1999, having received several accolades for her hard work and commitment.

Edice also became a member of the Eastern Star, contributing to her community with grace and commitment.

Edice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Callie Clemons; former husbands, Isaac McWilliams and Hizzie Redmond; son, Herman McWilliams and grand daughter, Valise N. McWilliams; Eight siblings: Coltee Clemons-Williams, Sherman Clemons, Henry E. Clemons, Dorothy S. Boyd, Hilman Clemons, Selena May Clemons (Sally), Bobbie E. Clemons, and Pretis L. Clemons. 

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her three children: two sons, Howard and Therman McWilliams, a daughter, Donnella (Joy) Brown-Walker. She is also survived by three brothers: Gean A. Clemons, Mitchel Clemons, and Junior Ray Clemons; three sisters: Mary Rush, Catherine Clemons, and Winnie L. Gipson; grandchildren, Isaiah, Olivia, Alayzia, Lakeshia, Dalvechio, Kendrick, Marquissa, Amir, and Anthony; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of special relatives and friends.
