Edna Phinoral Jones was born July 31, 1944, to Kenneth and Willie Mae Taylor in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024, after a brief illness at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
Edna united in Holy Matrimony to Collis Russell Jones, Sr and to this union four children were born.
Edna accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS.
Upon moving to Illinois, she joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church followed by a longtime membership at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Edna served faithfully on the Mount Zion Nurses Ministry for over 50 years.
Edna was employed briefly at Uni Royal and for many years at Personal Products as a machine operator. While employed at Personal Products she also served as a Union Steward. In her free time, she loved to spend time with family, travel, and shop.
Edna loved her family and doted on her grandchildren. She had a unique bond with each of them they will cherish forever. She cared deeply for her family and friends and rarely met a stranger. She had a positive attitude and a forgiving heart.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Willie Mae Taylor; her husband, Collis R Jones, Sr; one daughter, Carolyn Denise Jones; one granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Wooten; three sisters, Betty Sue (Forrest) Willis, Katherine Taylor Bell, and Joyce (Willis) Davis; one brother, Fred Earl Taylor.
Edna leaves to cherish her memories; three children, Sharon (Michael) McFarland of Normal, IL; Collis (Stefanie) Jones of Clarksburg, MD; Micheal (Melissa) Jones of Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren, Courtney Denise Heiskell, Christopher Dewayne Wooten, Camryn Danielle Jones, and Cai Duncan Jones; two brothers, Lee Taylor of Joliet, IL, Johnny (Kathy – deceased) Taylor of Hazel Crest, IL; two sisters, Carolyn Tucker and Sharie (Anthony) Route of Joliet, IL; special friends, Carolyn Davis and Eddie B Edwards of Joliet, IL; one special niece, Angela Willis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
