Edward Earl Dorris was born September 8, 1941 to the late Robert Lee and Mattye Lee (Townsend) Dorris in Winona, Mississippi. He was the oldest of four children. He was proud to be the son of Supt. Robert Dorris, founding pastor of Prayer Tower C.O.G.I.C.
Edward was raised and educated in Lockport, IL and lived in Joliet, IL. He was educated at Lincoln and Fairmont Elementary School and Lockport High School. He continued his education at Chicago Tech. He began his career as a Draftsman at Crane Company and ended working at EcoLabs.
He married Yvonne Brittan and to that union, two sons were born, Kevin L. Dorris and Avery D. Dorris.
In his late years, transformation took place and he became a faithful member of Prayer Tower Ministries C.O.G.I.C. and Holy Temple Church of God in Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mattye Dorris, sister, Charlotte Dorris Williams and grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his two sons, Kevin L. (Sandra) Dorris and Avery D. (Cassandra) Dorris; grandchildren, Ingrid (Ben) Brown-Tatum, Douglas D. Dorris, Kadejeh Dorris, and Kevon M. Dorris; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Ava Tatum, Airyanna, A’riyah, and A’miyah Dorris; brother, Robert D. (Tillie) Dorris and sister, Beverly (Melvin) Kindle, brother-in-law, Charles Williams, step-mother, Jeffie Dorris and a host of family and friends.
