Elder Luke Hinton of Joliet, Illinois was born on Saturday April 25, 1942 in Marion, Alabama to the union of Mr. & Mrs. William Sr and Cora Hinton.
He departed this life on Monday May 4, 2020 at the age of 78.
Elder Hinton accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated Elder at Mars Hill Community COGIC under the leadership of both the late Pastor James Curry Sr and Elder James Curry Jr. Later he united with All Nations COGIC under the late Bishop Robert Sanders, and then Perfecting Worship Center as Senior Elder under the leadership of Elder Tyrone Hinton Sr.
Elder Hinton served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge.
Known for his enormous heart and listening ear to many. He was the favorite uncle of many of his nieces and nephews. He dedicated his life to helping not only his immediate family but those that crossed his path daily, providing good counsel with compassion and love.
On Monday evening May 4th, 2020 at 5:15pm Elder Luke was called from labor to reward as he peacefully slipped away. He was preceded in death by wives Arie (Brass) Hinton (1990) and wife Bobbie Ann Hinton (2012) parents William Hinton Sr and Cora Hinton; his brothers William Hinton Jr, Owen Hinton, J.C. Hinton, Elder John Hinton, George Hinton sister; Celia Ruth (Hinton) Berry.
To embrace his precious memories, Luke leaves, his brother Roosevelt Hinton, sister Princess (Hinton) Green of Joliet, IL; God-Children; Elder Tyrone Hinton Sr., Greg Barlow, Command Sergeant Major Robert Atkinson Jr., Cathy Curry Cartwright, Valla Hinton
Special Friends; Elder Bobby Mack, Bishop Edward Fears, Elder Kenneth Gregory, Pastor James Hamilton Sr.
Luke also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
