Ella J. Johnston

Ella J. Johnston, beloved wife of Jeffrey M. Johnston was born August 20, 1948 in Mound City, Illinois.  She passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 in Elwood, Illinois.

Ella was a loving, kind hearted, caring person who loved to go fishing. She enjoyed being outside, spending a lot of time with her husband and was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved going on rides and enjoying the country life.

Ella is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Johns; brother, David L. Knickerbocker, Judy Brooks and John Brooks; sister, Jesse Brooks.

Ella is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Johnston; daughters, Paula Dunning, Tonya Dunning and Cynthia Smith; son, Donald Dunning and Robert Meloy; Cynthia Smith; grandchildren, Brittany Tolstuch, Chris Meloy, Micheal Meloy, John Meloy, Zuhally Shakerra Harrison, Randy Harrison; great grandchildren, Anthony Aratoma, Eva Aratoma, Za’niyah, Zyaire Smith; son-in-law, Ricky Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.

She will be greatly missed.
