Ella Tate Sanders, fondly known as "Granny", was born March 3, 1926 in Cleveland, Mississippi, to the union of Walter Tate, Sr. and Ella Wilson.
Ella met and married James Sanders, Sr. and relocated to Illinois in the early 1940s. First to Kankakee, then to Lockport/Joliet area where she lived until death.
Ella had many employment positions before settling as a Certified Nurse's Assistant at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, where she retired from after 30 plus years of service.
After retirement she devoted her time to part time cleaning jobs, lottery, crocheting many blankets for family, gardening, baking, and watching her favorite "cowboy shows" and old comedies on television.
Ella departed life on Monday, May 25, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family . She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Sr. (1978 after 37 years of marriage), her son, James Jr.(2010), two sisters and eight brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Earl L. Lane (Shoqin), and her daughter, Vivian A. Travis (Anthony Selmon), loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Although she will be missed, she will never be forgotten.
