Elsie L. Harvey was born in Ofahoma, Mississippi to Henry Luckett and Eula Mae Giles Luckett.
She spent the first 18 years of life in Carthage, Mississippi. After graduating Greer High School in the year of 1963, her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married the love of her life, Leon D. Harvey on January 19, 1964. Shortly after their marriage, they relocated to Chicago and later found their forever home in Joliet, IL. On January 3,1972, they welcomed a bundle of joy, Tarji A. Harvey, into the family, and she cherished her role as a mother.
For most of her life, she was a housewife until she began working at Fox Valley Press Company in 1991, delivering newspapers to the customers’ homes. She found great joy in doing this job and often shared her experiences with others, truly loving what she did. She worked there for about ten years, even taking her two oldest grandchildren along on her delivery route at night. In 2006, she joined First Student bus company, where despite not being fond of the children, she genuinely enjoyed her work. She retired from bus driving in 2014 and dedicated her time to her great-grandchildren.
In addition to spending time with family and friends, Elsie had a passion for fashion, traveling, watching action movies, gaming shows, scratch-off-tickets, and cookouts. Elsie had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her bluntness and ability to tell it like it is. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. Elsie was also a praying woman and made sure she read her bible daily.
