Ernest Sims, Jr. was born May 26, 1941 in Bay Springs, Mississippi to the late Ernest Sims, Sr. and Wilma (nee Clayton) Sims. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Ernest and Louise were married in 1962 in Mississippi. They moved to Erie, PA for a year, and then settled in Joliet, Illinois where they lived until his passing. He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company for 33 years and retired; he started enjoying his retirement with family and friends by fishing, cooking and grilling outside. He was known for his laughter and spending time cooking with his sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Wilma Sims; his three sisters, Francis McCullum, Bessie Mae Graham and Rhodie Henderson; two brothers, Albert Sims and Burnest Sims.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife of 58 years, Louise Pruitt Sims; children, Yolanda Barnes (Charles), Ronnie Sims, Mark Anthony (Corliss) Patterson, Terra Goodum and Shamekia (Cedric) Garner; two sisters, Fannie Veasy and Lucy McGee; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; special family friend, Latricia Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will be missed by family and friends, knowing that he is resting in peace.
