Essie J. Pruitte was born to the late Isaac Sr. and Dorinder Love on March 10, 1932 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She departed this life peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
Essie confessed her relationship with Christ at an early age and attended the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Cage in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
She moved to Joliet, Illinois in 1955 and immediately started working for Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. After a period of time, she became a CNA and worked at several nursing homes in the area. Eventually she met and married her loving husband, Hubert Pruitte where they established and operated E&H Lounge together for a number of years.
Essie is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Pruitte; father and mother, Isaac Sr. and Dorinder Love; sisters, Merline Dowsing and Annie Crockett; brothers, Isaac Love Jr., John Love and Willie “Fishman” Love; step-sons, Wilbert Pruitte, Willie Pruitte and Matthew Pruitte and step-daughter Kathleen Pruitte.
She leaves in the loving care of God; nieces, Myrdes (Harvey) Bennett, Acquanetta Love and Carita Gibson; nephews, Isaac III, Demetrius, Darrell, Duane, Rodney and Leslie Love; step-daughters, Corina Bass, Linda Bass and Ernestine Brown; sisters-in-law, Helen Love, Ethel Person, Ruby Person and Edna Floyd; a dear friend, Johnny Taylor and a host of other relatives and friends.
