Eugene Barber was born on January 16, 1933 in Joliet, Illinois to the late Ira and Rosabell (nee Link) Barber. He departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2026 in Joliet, IL.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents; one son, Kevin Barber Sr.; brothers, Donald (Susie) Barber, Wilbert Barber and brother in infancy; sisters, Geraldine Barber, Shirley Barber, JoAnn Whitehead and Delores (Monroe) Waddell; brothers-in-law, Freely Foster and Kim Foster; two grandsons, Antoine Glover and Jerie McClellan.
Eugene, affectionately known as “Geno” loved his family. He loved dancing, working in his yard, fishing, shopping and going to the casino. He attended Joliet Public Schools. He worked for many years as a driver for Englewood Electrical Supply Company.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Glory (nee Foster) Barber; daughters, Bernadine Barber, Deborah Pruitte, Sonya (Rodney) Marion, Min. Rhea (Warren) Martin and Karla Blankenship; son, Wilbert McClellan; one sister, Earline Barber; 32 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; god daughter, Nichelle Johnson Rucker; special son, John Boykin; special daughter, Yvonne McClurkin; special niece, Darlene Tyler; special nephew, Phillip Whitehead; very, very special caregiver, Shingala Pinnick; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
