Mr. Eugene Broome was born June 14, 1937, in Utica Mississippi to Nancy Schuler and Steve Miller and was later adopted by Zack Broome and Edna Miller Broome whom he loved as his mother and his father.

He Confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at White Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Carpenter, Mississippi under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L Kennedy. He later graduated from Hinds County A.H.S Utica Institute in 1953. After high school he joined the Army and served valiantly for four years becoming a paratrooper,
After being honorably discharged from the military he was united in Holy matrimony to Annie Mae Gaston on August 17, 1962, in Milwaukee Wisconsin and from this union they were blessed with five children.
Eugene was a great provider. He work as a cab driver in Milwaukee and later settled in Chicago, were he attended Coyne College and graduated top of his class as an Electrician. Eugene was always known for his quick ability to solve mathematical problems. He worked at General Electric for a while until he found his permanent job at Amtrak where he was known as the “OT Man”. He retired from Amtrak in 1999.
Eugene loved home cook meals, watching Jeopardy and was an avid fishmen. He also was a great bowler once almost bowling a perfect game and was known as the “Sweeper.”
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Edna Broome, his beloved wife Annie Broome and his son, Phillip Broome along with nine sister and nine brothers.
Eugene Broome departed this life Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
He leaves to cherish two sons: Micheal (Laci) Broome, Nebraska, Joseph (Cathy) Broome, Arizona, two daughters: Pam (Reggie) Howard, Plainfield, Penny (Mark) Weaver, Joliet. Four brothers: Fred Flagg St Louis, MO, Sterling (Earlean) Miller, Avondale, LA, Roger (Cora)Miller and Joseph (Betty) Miller of Utica, Mississippi; eight sisters: Neil Yancy St. Louis, Mo, Lucy Miller of Harvey, LA, Gracie Wilson of South Holand, IL, Emma (Albert) Brown, Juanita Miller, Doris (Robert) Kaigler, Josephine (Leroy) Bourgeois of the Greater New Orleans and Evelyn Rounds of Chino Hills, CA; brother- in law: Rev Dr. Benny J. Gaston of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sister- in law: Joycelyn Miller of Marrero, LA and Ruth Miller of Hermanville, MS.
