Eunice Alexander was born on April 14, 1937, to the late William Sr. and Julia Miller of Desoto County in Nesbit, Mississippi.
She was the seventh child born to this union. Both parents preceded her in death; along with her siblings, Eva, William Jr., Frank, LeFloyd, Selma, and Reverend DeLloyd.
She confessed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age.
Through her late brother, Rev. DeLloyd Miller, she met the love of her life, Odell Alexander, affectionally known as “Sonny.”
On September 16, 1956, they were married in Hernando, Mississippi. To this union six children were born. Two sons, Glenn D. and Tyrone, Sr. preceded her in death. They remained married for 68 years until April 1, 2024, when Sonny passed away.
She was known for her cooking. She was a dedicated member of the Feed the Hungry Outreach Ministry. She, Joann Jordan and Hollie Bell began cooking dinners in their homes for the ministry. As this ministrygrew to over 100 or more hungry souls weekly, they expanded to the kitchen of New Faith M.B. Church. She continued her service in the ministry until 2020.
Eunice was very passionate about her children. She was a mother figure to her nieces, nephews and manychildren of the church.
Eunice was a member of New Faith M.B. Church for 63 years, where she served as a faithful member of the Deaconess Board, Voices of New Faith Choir, Sunday School Dept., The Repast Committee, and Feed the Hungry Outreach Ministry.
She departed this life from Labor to Reward on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
She leaves the cherished memories of her legacy to her four children; one son, Clinton L. Alexander (Michelle), three daughters, Denise Alexander, Cynthia M. Barnes (Bruce Sr.) Katrina Ballard (Walter) all of Chicago, IL; one daughter-in-law, Laura Alexander, and grandchildren; Tashe’ Jackson, Alyssa DeJohnson (Tremaine), Tyrone Alexander, Jr. (Joi), Bruce L. Barnes Jr., Brandon A. Barnes, Cameron M. Barnes, Michael Coates, Joshua Coates, Taliyah, Tanaya and six great-grandchildren; one brother; Marl E. Miller (Elsie) of Hernando, MS, two sisters, Earnestine Meriweather of Chicago, IL, Ruby D. Burkley of Hernando, MS.; godchildren, Lorell Freemon, Stacey Smith, Kenneth Horton, Andrea Horton, Kashundra Jones, Brandon Miller and Jamal Cheatham. Special daughters: Nettie Myers, Charlotte Turner, Nicole Irby, and all others who a0ectionally called her Momma. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
