Floyd Alexander Jr. was born on March 18, 1950. He was the oldest child of the late Floyd and Rosa Lee Alexander Sr.
Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He always talked about his days as the choir director at the church, which is where he got his love for music.
Floyd had a strong belief in hardwork and dedication, and for a short time he worked at the Caterpillar Company here in Joliet. During this time, Floyd became a proud and loving father of two children that he loved dearly. In 1972, he moved to Evanston, IL there, he met his wife, Andrea J. Hogue, and together, they joined and formed a 51 year union, and within that union also had two loving children.
Floyd had a unique love for family and friends. He would always greet you with a big smile. He loved to bowl, play pool, dance and fish. You could always catch him on the dance floor snapping his fingers and swaying to the music. Floyd shared his love for fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He opened his heart to everyone around him, whether you were a family member or a friend.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Rosa Lee Alexander Sr.; his four sisters, Beverly Alexander, Carolyn Holman, Rita Ann (Orlando) Phillips, and Diane Luckey.
Floyd leaves to cherish his memory; four sisters, Rosemary (Fred) Dickson, Susan (Paul) Green, Betty Jean Luckey, and Korie Alexander; his loving wife, Andrea Jeanette Alexander; his sons, Vincent Walker and Quinton Alexander; his daughters, Yolanda Walker and Renea Alexander; his five granddaughters, Shawmicka Walker, Tianna Alexander, Brittany Zachery, Tiara Alexander and Destini Johnson; and his only grandson, Vincent Walker Jr. He also leaves his ten great-grandchildren; Jamelle, Larryion, La’Trelle, Larriaye, Laurice, Lar’nelle, Jermani, Saint, Savannah Skye and Jaxson; a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends to remember all the lovely memories we all share.
We will miss him so much, words cannot express. But we know his time has come, and he must go home to the One who loved him the best. God said, “Come home my child, it's time for you to rest.”
