FLOYD MINTON, SR. was born August 8, 1929 in Indianola, Mississippi to Wesley and Mamie Minton. He departed this life on Monday, December 24, 2018, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bolingbrook, IL.

Floyd was educated in Indianola, Mississippi and later relocated to Muskegon MI. where he met and married his first wife, Geraldine Larkins. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War.

Floyd had nine children that were born unto him; Joyce, Patricia, Floyda, Floyd Jr., Wesley, Steven, Gregory, Kenneth, and Ida. In 1979 Floyd married Mary Panola Mitchell and he gain two daughters Patricia and Rosalynn. Together they raised their family.

Floyd worked for Reynolds Metal Company for many years before he began working in construction with Laborers Local 75 where he retired. He was a dedicated devout believer and follower of Christ. He became a member of All Nations Church of God In Christ in the 1970s under the leadership of Supt. Ralph Kimbrough, Sr. and was elevated to President of the Usher Board and District Vice President under the leadership of Bishop Robert R. Sanders, as well as member of William Roberts District, 3rd Jurisdiction of Illinois, and served on the Deacon Board until his health failed.

Floyd was a faithful servant of God where he used the gifts and talents that God had given him by lending a helping hand to his fellow brethren, praying over the sick, being a loyal husband and a loving dedicated father. His personality was larger than life he loved to travel near and far to council those who were in need of a word or just to lend an ear. You can always depend on Brother Minton.

Floyd was loved by many who will cherish these memories; he leaves with his loving, wife, Mary Panola Minton; his children, Joyce Minton, Patricia Minton, Floyda Johnson Minton, Floyd Minton Jr., Wesley Minton, Patricia (Willie) Smith, Steven Minton, Gregory Minton, Kenneth (Ora) Minton, Rosalynn Mitchell, Ida Davis a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
