Fredia Vera Fox was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas on July 6, 1952, to the late Annie Lee (Scales/Durham). She departed this life on December 11, 2024. She was raised by her grandmother, Annie Sue Petty, who she loved dearly, Annie Lee Scales/Durham and Annie Sue Petty preceded her in death. "Fredia" accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at First Baptist of James Edition Church where she was a member. She relocated to Chicago in her early teens. Later, she went on and joined New Faith Baptist Church, where she was an usher for many years. "Fredia" Married in Holy Matrimony to Earl R. Fox on October 31, 1999. She was a hardworking woman who dedicated her time to companies such as Alden, Sweetheart Cups Company, Johnson and Johnson, and Crete Monee Middle School. She passionately cared for others, and enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and being around friends during her free time. "Fredia" loved her family deeply. She cherished and looked forward to time spent with her children and grandchildren, most. She made the holidays one to look forward to with large soulful meals. Her way to everyone's heart was through their stomachs.
"Fredia" leaves to Cherish her precious memories; her beloved children, Lajuana Russell, Lattona Scales Ware (Willie), Shernette Scales (Frank), Shavon Scales (Demetrious, Dedric Scales, Earl Fox Jr., Marcus Fox (Carla), Akinah Fox, Marnique Fox, Marcus Fox, Marie Smith and special son, (Robert Oliver). She leaves behind seven sisters, Charlene Carter (James), Sharon Durham, Caron Durham, Annie Johnson (Rickey), Cora Durham, Nancy Durham, and Reo Osunde (Julius); 36 Grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
"Fredia" was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Fox; her mother, Annie Lee (Scales/Durham), and grandmother, Annie Sue Petty; her brothers, Charles Durham, Jessie Durham, and Timmy Durham; her daughter, Tammy Abney, her son-in-law, Marcus McCollough, and grandson, Jimmie Lee Malone.
