Geneva Montgomery Obituary

Geneva Montgomery was born on June 20, 1961, in Choctaw, Alabama, to Mrs. Willie Geneva Tillman and Cass Weatherspoon. Geneva accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in a river in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 12, coming up praising the Lord. She attended Choctaw School in Butler, Alabama, Marshall School in Chicago, IL, and Joliet Central High School in Joliet, IL, where she graduated with her high school diploma. She later moved to Atlanta Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree at DeVry University.

Geneva worked for Hewlett-Packard for over 16 years, ultimately becoming the Supervisor of the PC Help Desk. She traveled extensively, training other employees at Hewlett-Packard.

Geneva departed this life on October 30, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Geneva Tillman and Cass Weatherspoon. Siblings: Johnnie Mae Johnson, Earlie Mae Tillman, and Willie James Tillman. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her son Ly Jontay Montgomery (Krystal) of Joliet, IL; three sisters, Janie Johnson (Roy) of Chicago, Illinois, Callie Tillman Reed of Pennington, Alabama, and Brenda Fears-Powell (Roger); three brothers Ezra Tillman, Sr. (Brenda) of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Cass Weatherspoon, Jr., and Arthur Pogue, both of Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Geneva was compassionate and always went out of her way to help others. She was firm in her beliefs, saying what she meant and meaning what she said. She leaves behind cherished memories with God sister Pasty Ann Keeton and Lorenzo Gordon, one of the greatest friend anyone could have. Lorenzo was a steadfast presence in Geneva’s life, especially during her most difficult times. His unwavering support and care provided her with immense comfort and strength.

A special thanks to the medical staff at the University of Chicago Hospital for their care and loving support.
