Geraldine Clark Obituary

Our Heavenly Father saw fit to reward Mother Geraldine Clark with wings on Monday, October 7, 2024.  Her passing reminds us that death is sure but life is uncertain.

Mother Clark was born on March 1, 1951 in Vaiden, Mississippi to Norman and Willie Mae Ammons.  Early in life, Mother Clark moved from Vaiden, Mississippi to Joliet, Illinois, where she later met and married the love of her life, Eugene Clark, Sr. on August 26, 1979.  To this union four children were born.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly.  She was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love.  A friend to many, she was a cherished member of All Nations Church of God in Christ under the great leadership of Pastor Dwayne Barefield, a man of God whom she respected and loved to the end.  Mother Clark served on the Usher Board at All Nations, and she was later appointed to the Mothers Board by Pastor Barefield.  Mother Clark loved attending Sunday School and she loved her All Nations Family.

Mother Clark worked 35 years and retired from Pace Heritage Bus Company in Joliet, Illinois, where she won numerous awards for being a great leader and driver.  She was the first female to receive the “Million Mile Award” at Pace.  She loved her job and loved talking to all kinds of people.  “Mrs. Clark” had a personality that was larger than life.  Her laughter, her joy, her realness towards people showed in her day-to-day life as a Pace Bus Operator.

Mother Clark is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Clark, Sr., her first born son, Anthony Clark, her parents, Norman and Willie Mae Ammons, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Fannie Clark, and her sisters, Barbara Ammons Cartwright and Ann “Shane” Knight.

She leaves her memory and legacy to her beloved son Adolph (Joel) Clark; her faithful and dedicated daughters, Veronica (Oliver) Gavin and Jackie Ayinotu, and her 2 stepsons whom she loved dearly, Eugene (Patty) Clark, Jr. and Darrel Clark; her 13 grandchildren, Kelly, Antoinne  (Ebonee), Brianna, Adrian, Tony, Jr., Marissa, Gina, Romello, Treyvon, Tiffany, Chukwuma, Jr., Amayah, and Gabby and 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, William (Robin) Ammons, Melvin (Anita) Ammons, Ronnie Hamilton; three sisters, Dorothy (Clarence) Moore, Marilyn Ammons, Naomi Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Jacquie Clark Lee and Barbara (John) Borner; three brothers-in-law, Orlando (Ann) Knight, Charles (Dottie) Clark, and David Clark; 1 Goddaughter, Tara “Boom” Jones;  3 Godsons, Charlie Jones, Joe Eskridge and Darrell Catchings; a special niece, Kim Turner; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and family.  Mother Clark was loved by many of her children’s friends (too many to mention), but she loved each and every one of them and was affectionately known as “mom” to all of them!
