With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we honor Glenn Cross, who peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Born on February 25, 1954, in Chicago, IL, Glenn was the beloved son of Ruth Miller and William Cross. A proud graduate of Emil G. Hirsch Metropolitan High School, Class of 1973, Glenn carried the values of hard work and determination throughout his life.
Glenn dedicated over 30 years of his career to CNA as a Technical Analyst, a role in which his brilliance and attention to detail showed. After retiring at the early age of 50, Glenn’s passion for technology drew him back to work at BT America as a Computer Analyst before retiring fully. Alongside his professional journey, Glenn pursued his education at Joliet Junior College and Olive-Harvey College, always striving to better himself and his knowledge.
In 1987, Glenn found the love of his life, Rita. Their love story unfolded like a beautiful melody, culminating in marriage on June 30, 1990. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter. In 1991, they joyfully welcomed their daughter Dominique, and in 1996, their family became complete with the birth of their son, De’Angelo.
Glenn’s love for his family was unmatched. His greatest joy came from supporting and spending time with them, especially his beloved grandchildren—Jaxon, Kaden, and Jordyn. As “Grandpa Glenn,” he created countless cherished memories, from playtime in the park to imparting life lessons, always bringing his unique humor and warmth.
A brilliant chess player, Glenn delighted in games that showcased his strategic mind and playful spirit. Yet, it was his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that defined his life. Glenn’s family was his greatest treasure, and he made sure they felt his love every day. Though we mourn his absence, we take comfort in knowing that Glenn is reunited with his mother, Ruth, and his sister, Chrislyn. He is survived by his adoring wife, Rita; his children, Dominique (Hasan) and De’Angelo; his grandchildren, Jaxon, Kaden, and Jordyn; his niece, Shawn; his nephew, Christopher; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Glenn Cross will be remembered as a man of immense heart and humor, a protector and provider, and a steadfast presence in the lives of those he loved. His spirit will forever be a part of us, reflected in the kindness we share, the laughter we hear, and the love we give.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Glenn’s life at his memorial service, where together, we will honor his memory and hold him close in our hearts.
May his soul rest in peace and his love continue to guide us always.
