Gordon Patterson was born on February 15, 1958, in Aurora, IL to Marsha Patterson and Albert Caldwell. He departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, with family by his side.
Gordon was educated at Washington Junior High School in Joliet, IL, he later attended Providence Catholic High School where he became known as the infamous track star “Flash”. He then later finished his high school education at Joliet Township Central where he graduated. After graduating he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army.
Gordon was an avid sports fan, if it was a sport he could tell you all about it. He enjoyed cooking on the grill and eating, one of his favorite foods was pizza. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his children, and grandchildren.
Gordon loved to praise the Lord. While attending church at Mt. Olive M.B Church under the leadership of Rev. Hector Edwards he met the love of his life, Mary Jordan. They were later united in holy matrimony on April 10, 2011, in Springfield, IL by Pastor Paul W. Davis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marsha (Bob) Johnson and Albert Caldwell; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Genevieve Patterson; mother-in-law, Thelma Lee Perkins; sister-in-law, Barbara Perkins; brothers-in-law, Gregory, and Ernest Perkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving devoted wife Mary Patterson; daughters, Tamela Mason of Las Vegas, NV, Chanelle’ Nicole’ (Paul) Anderson of St. Charles, MO, Stacey Milton-Wolf of Spokane, WA; sons, Gor’Don Martel (Andrea) Patterson of St. Charles, MO, Roy and Larry Perkins of Joliet, IL. Twenty-two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Special aunt, Tedene Williams; special uncle, Ward Patterson. Special cousins, James (Jimmy) Williams Jr. and David Patterson; close friends, Richard J. Lane and Cleveland Hickman; mentors, Rev. Adrian Heath and Minister Stephen Veasy.
