Howard Dodd Sr. affectionately known as “Lee,” was truly exceptional. He had a strong work ethic, a great sense of humor, a joke for all who would listen and a smile that would light up the room. To know him was to appreciate his character: a kind-hearted and easygoing individual with a strong passion for cars. Howard Sr. was born into this world on November 3, 1939, in Kosciusko, Mississippi to Lawrence and Ethel Dodd who preceded him in death.
Howard Sr. married Doris Smith. He was employed by GAF for several years, before retiring from Ivex Mill Division. He cared deeply for his family. God allowed us to have Howard Sr. for 85 years and he departed this life on January 20, 2025. He left us with many memories of his joy, laughter, and charismatic personality.
Howard Sr. was preceded in death by his brothers; L.D. Dodd, Terry C. Dodd and William D. Dodd as well as his son and namesake, Howard L. Dodd Jr.
Howard Sr.’s memories will remain in the hearts of: The love of his life, his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Dodd; his children: Pamela Smith, Vanessa (Eric) Garrett, Tonya (Steve) Davis and Kwate (Lasonya) Dodd. His siblings: Emma Jean Thompson, Bonnie Lou Fincher, James Lawrence (Ruthie) Dodd. Cherished nephew and brother at heart Max (Shirley) Dodd. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as close family and friends whom he dearly loved.
