A Life Legacy Celebration in Loving Memory of
Iris Lisa Robinson
Sunrise – April 26, 1960
Sunset – April 25, 2024
Iris Lisa Robinson was born in Chicago, IL on April 26, 1960 to the union of Isaac and Essie Patton. She was the fifth of five children. She confessed Christ at an early age and remained a faithful church attendee and servant.
Iris attended Jones Commercial high school and attended Chicago State with a major in Education and Liberal Arts. While in college and working at Goldbatt’s, she met Taylor Robinson. They married in 1980 and had two children, Syreeta and Taylor Rance, during their union. Iris started her professional life at Goldblatt’s, then later began working as an Insurance Claim Adjuster for several Property & Causality insurance companies. She later switched careers to be closer to her passion, children, when she became a Special Ed School Bus Driver.
Iris was a dedicated servant of God. She started her servitude at Zion Temple Church, then later joined Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church, and finally Living Word before her transition. She truly loved the Lord, helping others and ministering the gospel. She served as Sunday School secretary and teacher. She also continued her servitude by volunteering at children’s church and with the hospitality ministry. Her passion was to help others and talk with strangers to spread the gospel or to simply get to know them. She would offer a complement to anyone simply to open the door for additional conversation. She never met a stranger. Iris also showed her Christ-like attributes and gifts as an intercessor, worshiper, prophetic minister, and giver.
Iris hobbies included traveling, volunteering at nursing homes, street evangelizing, watching Hallmark channel and old classic movies, reading, walking (especially near water), visiting museums and the zoo, attending/hosting family gatherings, playing board & card games, and barbecuing at any time of year including winters in Chicago.
Iris’s greatest joy was seeing smiles on people’s faces after a conversation or receiving something she gave them. Iris loved life, her family, church family, friends and had a warm sense of humor.
On April 25, 2024, Iris peacefully passed away in Aurora IL. Iris was loved by all and will be truly missed.
