James Gholston Obituary

James Henry Gholston was born April 18, 1935 to Ed and Lula Gholston in Sunflower, Mississippi.  He was the oldest son of eleven children from their union.  James passed away peacefully at his home in Joliet, Illinois with his son Robert and daughter-in-law, Lisa by his side on Friday, November 26, 2021.

James was a retired production worker at the GAF Corporation.  James loved his family, barbecuing, and working on cars.  He was also an avid listener of the blues and watching western movies.

James is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Gholston; son, Dana Gholston; parents, Ed and Lula Gholston; sisters, Mettie Heath, Mary Lee Stepney, Emma Colston, Ora Dee Gholston, Mattie Bell Gholston, Lizzie Robinson, and Ollie Ruth McCullum; brothers, Roosevelt Gholston and Robert B. Gholston.

James leaves to cherish his memories; one sister, Eddie Bee (George) Edwards; seven loving children, Edward (Janet), Wesley, Michael (Belinda), Ollie (Tina), Diane, Kelly and Robert (Lisa), Marlene Edwards; sister-in-law, Lillian Buttler; eighteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
