James Nelson Purifoy III was affectionately known as "Dulu" to family and friends. James was born on November 9, 1996 to the union of Fannie Ladell Braggs and James N. Purifoy II in Chicago, Illinois. On Saturday, April 13, 2024, God called James home to his final resting place. He will be greatly missed.
James gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Sheldon Heights Church of Christ under the leadership of Minister Leonardo D. Gilbert.
James attended Dulles Aldridge and CICS Schools and earned his high school diploma from Duluth, Minnesota in 2016.
When James was near there was never a dull moment. He would often make jokes and mock family and friends with his funny spirit. He was definitely full of life. Those who loved him appreciated him for his charismatic, compassionate and beautiful spirit. Dulu was also known for his bright and contagious smile and big personality. He loved his mom very dearly. He also had a soft spot for his bonus mom, Sherese.
Dulu's journey of life led from Chicago to Duluth where he acquired many friends and extended family while spreading his talent and love for music. He will be remembered for his compassion for others, and helping anyone he could. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Dulu developed a love for working on cars and was very keen in the construction industry, including tree-cutting (forestry). He was always interested in doing things to create a better position in life for himself.
James was preceded into eternity by his father, James N. Purifoy II; two aunts, Katina and Nika Braggs; paternal grandmother, Yvaughn Purifoy; and paternal grandfather, James Purifoy Sr.
James may be gone from this place and time, but his spirit will live on through his loving mother, Fannie L. Braggs; father in love, John L. Hill; siblings: Jamon, Jayvon, and Jameia; his beautiful baby girl, Ta'myira Lashay Johnson-Purifoy; nephew, Jaaquim Purifoy-Jones; loving grandparents, Ike and Bernice Braggs; aunts, Ylena Purifoy and Tonya Braggs; uncles, Jamie Allen Sr., Willie Braggs, Ike Braggs Jr., and Leco Braggs Sr.; bonus/surrogate mother, Sherese Honneycutt; and god-mom, Latonia Moore. Dulu also gained a host of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout his journey. He was loved by many.
