James Rolling Jr. Was born on Jan 9, 1946, to James and Corene Rolling Sr. in Yazoo City, Mississippi. James accepted Christ at an early age in Mississippi; James and his mother later relocated to Memphis Tennessee where he joined the Keel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Robert C. Jones.
James received his education in Memphis and later worked at a grocery store delivering groceries on his bike.
After James’s mother went home to be with the lord, he relocated to the big city “Chicago”, where he lived with his aunt and uncle Charles & Lula Perry.
Upon moving to Chicago James joined the New Mt Sinai Baptist under the leadership of Rev. David Coleman, where he was a faithful member of the Usher Board until his health began to fail.
Om May 1, 2026, God was in his garden picking flowers when he picked James to come live in his garden.
James leaves to mourn Aunt Lula Perry (Charles), Uncle Albert Hubbard, (Enola Bailey deceased) Manuel Bailey and host of cousins and friends.
James’s legacy is marked by kindness, generosity, and unwavering strength. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many, leaving lasting memories and a profound impact on all who knew him. James will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We honor his memory and celebrate the remarkable life he lived, cherishing the moments shared and the love they gave. May his soul rest in peace.
Jame will forever be known for this song he would sing “Don’t let the devil ride”, he would always walk around the house singing it.
Special thanks to Crestwood Terrace Nursing Facility Staff in Crestwood Illinois where James resided.
