Jeneal Lindsay-Brown

Jeneal Lindsay-Brown was born on October 24, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Willie Earl Lindsay Sr. and Mattie Rose Franklin-Lindsay.

At a very young age, Jeneal accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Messiah Baptist Church in Broadview, Illinois. She remained a faithful believer in Jesus Christ throughout her life.

Jeneal’s early years were filled with cherished family memories. During her childhood, she enjoyed visiting family and traveling to Mississippi during summer vacations. She was affectionately known as “Radio” because of her love for talking and her pleasant, soft voice. Jeneal found great joy in spending time with her siblings, and her calm and gentle demeanor often helped maintain peace within the household.

Jeneal began her education at Garfield Elementary School and later graduated from Proviso East High School with the Class of 1985. During her school years, she participated in volleyball and played the clarinet in the school band. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois.

Jeneal’s career journey led her to the Cook County Clerk’s Office, where she faithfully worked for more than 30 years in the Social Services Department. Her warm personality and genuine passion for helping others made her a valuable asset. Everyone who encountered Jeneal was fortunate to experience her kindness and calming presence.

Jeneal’s life was blessed with the birth of her son, Joshua Hakim Lindsay. Later, she met and fell in love with Willie Brown. The couple married on October 3, 1998, and their union was blessed with a son, Jordan D’vonte Brown.

Jeneal was a loving and devoted wife and mother who took great pride in watching her children excel in both sports and academics. She enjoyed her Saturday ritual of listening to V103. She was also an enthusiastic sports fan who loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and her favorite college basketball teams.

Jeneal was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 13. Her passing has left a profound and personal void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who knew and loved her.

Jeneal was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Earl Lindsay Sr. and Mattie Rose Franklin Lindsay; her siblings, Derrick Lindsay, Evette Lindsay, and Willie Lindsay Jr.; and her nephew, Eric M. Lindsay.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving husband, Willie Brown; her sons, Joshua Lindsay and Jordan Brown; her siblings, Sandra Cannon (Tyrone), Bernita Lindsay-Bryant, and Ann Lindsay-Raines (Reggie); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and loved ones.
