Jennie Crawford Obituary

Jennie Henley was born July 12, 1941 to Henry Dixon and Ollie Mae Price in Wisner, Louisiana.  She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Sedrick, two daughters, Yolanda, Desiray and great granddaughter, Kiyerra.

Jennie lived in Silvercreek Mississippi with her grandparents.  She attended Progressive and Rosehill Elementary Grammar Schools.  She also was a member of the 4H Club.

Jennie accepted Christ at an early age.  She attended Rosehill M.B. Church in Silvercreek, Mississippi under the leadership of Pastor Thigpen.

In 1952, Jennie moved to Chicago, Illinois at the age of 11 years old.  She attended William Penn Elementary Grammar School and from there she attended Wendell Phillips High School.

Jennie was employed at Spiegel for ten years.  In 1964, Jennie had a son named Jeffrey.

On February 24, 1965, Jennie married her first husband, Solomon Crawford and to this union, three children were born, Patricia, Sattoria and Sedrick.

In May of 1967, Jennie became of member of Holy Trinity Non-Secretarian Temple under the leadership of Bishop Charles J. Hawkins.  She was a faithful member there for eighteen years.  She served on the Missionary Board for ten years.

In 1981, Jennie moved on and became of member of New Greater Second M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Howard Randolph; there she served as President of the Pastor’s Aide Board for eight years.  IN 1990, Jennie adopted two children, Desiray and Timothy Smith.

In June of 1990, Jennie married Eugene Henley; to this union, no children were born.  Jennie and Eugene owned several businesses together.

She attended Olive Harvey Junior College where she studies and got her degree.  Then she attended Chicago State University where she studies to be an accountant.

She enjoyed cooking and reading, most of all she loved everyone.

In September of 1997, Jennie went on to become a member of New Faith M.B. Church still under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Howard Randolph for twenty-two years.  As her health began to decline, she was unable to attend service.

On January 2, 2020, at 5:54 P.M., God leaned over and whispered in Jennie’s ear, and it’s time to come home my beautiful angel, your work down here is done.  You’ve fought a good fight, come home my good and faithful servant.

Jennie leaves to cherish her fond memories; two sons, Jeffrey Price of Chicago, IL, Timothy Smith of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Patricia Tucker of Greenville, S.C., and Sattoria (John) King, Jr. of Chicago, IL; one sister, Margarette Hill of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren, Laqia Land of Greenville, SC, Jacquette (James) Jones of  Chicago, IL, Marqita (Koyette) Miles of Riverside, CA, Rarrshawn Bell of Chicago, IL, Cortez (Thomasiina) of Kansas, MO, Arielle (Anthony) Copeland of Simpsonville, SC, Jasime Price of Chicago, IL, Justine (Ariele) Price, Chicago, IL, Wayne Tucker, Jr. of Greenville, SC, Caleb Tucker of Greenville, SC; sixteen great grandchildren and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
