Jennifer Denise (Wheeler) King was born July 2, 1960 in Joliet, IL to William and Lillie Mae Wheeler by way of Juanita Files.
Jennifer was baptized and accepted the Lord as her personal savior at Bethlehem Healing Temple in Lockport, IL. Her personal relationship with God was very important and she taught her children to pray, read the Bible and relyon the Lord for help. Throughout her life, Jennifer was vibrant, intelligent and very resourceful. She was kind and a loyal friend yet firm and very independent. She loved to have a great time and those that were close to her always knew they could count on a laugh when she was around.
She attended primary school at Fairmont and graduated High School from Lockport Central in 1978. Following high school she attended Clark College in Indianapolis, IN until she returned to Illinois to care for her sick mother, Lillie Mae and her daughter Demetrice. Always believing in hard work she completed the Step-Up program hosted by the Joliet Housing Authority where she was certified in building maintenance. During her tenure at Joliet Housing Authority, Jennifer held positions as the Union Representative and Site Manager. She worked for Joliet Housing Authority until early retirement in 2008 when she relocated to Macon, GA. During this time, she met many friends and spent precious time with children and grandchildren. Jennifer returned to Joliet, Illinois in 2018 and remained there until her death. In her last days Jennifer was surrounded by family and friends allowing her to peacefully transition from this earth into eternal life on June 29, 2021.
Left to cherish her memories are her special friend, Terrance April, her children; Demetrice (Shawn) Williams, Erika (Jameel) Todd, David King Jr, Danielle King, Diquan Dickson, surviving brothers and sisters, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
