Jerome W. Hancock

Jerome W. Hancock, age 82, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Ascension Saint Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL. He was born January 25, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Ada Sims-Hancock and Welbia Hancock. 

Jerome was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 36 years. He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures with family and church family at St. Mark C.M.E. Church where he was a long-time member of the church choir and taught Sunday school. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Welbia Hancock; his mother, Ada Sims-Hancock; and brother, Raymond Hancock. 

Jerome is survived by his sister, Ava Hancock; daughters, Judith Hancock-Hester and Pamela Hancock-Tappin; granddaughter, Natasha Hester; grandsons, Mark Hester Jr. and Khalid Banks; great-grandson, Mylez Hester; and great-granddaughter, Violet Walker and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, family and friends, and others whose lives Jerome touched.
