Joan Haynes Obituary

A LIFE WELL LIVED……….

Joan Gwendolyn Hall was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 12, 1946 to the union of Hazel and Roxanna Hall.  Her parents and two (2) sisters Carol Hall and Jimmie Lee Brown preceded her in death.

Joan was baptized at an early age and continued her Christian service, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Howard Randolph, where she served on the Women’s Christian Ministry until she was called home to GLORY.

Joan affectionately known as Joanie.  She graduated from Cooley High School in 1964.  She furthered her education as a Cosmetologist graduating from Debbie School of Beauty & Culture.

Joanie worked for over 20 years at the Cook County Department of Public Health.  She continued her vast work experience by working at the Jewish Federation Metropolitan of Chicago, until she retired in 2010.  She would also, periodically, work for the Board of Elections, and Joan did this all while still being a diligent and faithful Beautician for over 50 years to her family and loyal clients that most certainly became family to her.  She was very knowledgeable in Beauty Culture, and she could lay some Hair!

Joan was family oriented.  She was a very creative individual, an excellent cook, loved a variety of music genres, and enjoyed dancing.  Joan was an all-around a social butterfly, and she LOVED TO STEP!

Joan met and married Frank Haynes, who preceded her in death.  Joan also laid to rest three of her four beautiful daughters: Sherry, Shikinna and Charlotte Hall; and one great-grandchild: Mylan.

Tuesday, October 8, 2019 Joan was told to Rest on GOD’s faithful servant.  And while she has only been gone a short time from us, we all know that Joan is in Heaven smiling and stepping as only she could do.

Joan leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted daughter Stacy Lynette (David) Henderson; three (3) granddaughters: Toyette, Caprice and Rayven; six (6) grandsons:  DeMichael, Deonte, Domonique, Lamont Jr., DeMaryon and Ryan; five (5) great-grandchildren:  Brian, Aydin, Aubrielle, Amiri and Kamarion; her devoted siblings: Melvin (Gloria) Boozer, Janie (Johnnie Lee) Hardy, Hazel Hall, Mary Pendleton and Charles Hall; one Aunt Jane Mitchell; the love of her life Mike Hood; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
