John C. Bolton was born on March 2, 1946 in Blue Ridge, Mississippi to Archie and Leola (Gavin) Bolton. From an early age, John accepted Christ and affectionately known as J.C. His warm yet determined personality and his unique way of getting his point across, whether for better or for worse, left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
A tireless worker and a firm leader, John instilled in those around him the value of hard work and dedication. Many who “learned” from him went on to be successful construction company owners, a true testament to his belief that a good hard worker builds a promising future. Even in his sleep it seemed John was busy pouring concrete and building garages, a vivid reflection of his lifelong passion for construction and craftsmanship.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Leola Dean; his stepfather, Houston Dean; his sisters, Maggie Lee Bolton Jordan, Alice Mae Bolton Vaughn, both of California, and Leona Bolton Dean from Soso, MS, brother L.C. Bolton of Mississippi
He is survived by his loving wife who took very special care of him until the end, Lorraine Bolton; mother of his six children. Lodel Bolton; children, Marlene Bolton Abney, John Bolton Jr. (deceased), Barbara Bolton, Mark Bolton. Almeda Bolton and Calvin (Zykeska) Bolton Sr. John’s family also includes his stepchildren, Vivian Summers and Sency “Brent” Summers, as well as an extended family that comprises his brother, Bishop R.C. Bolton (Janie) of Alabama; his sister-in-law, Zattie Mae Thomas; his brother-in-law, Nathaniel Thomas (Stephanie); his sisters, Ruby Newell, Willie Jewel McDonald, Daisy Pruitt, Annamerl Jenkins, and Schovine Dean Sims (known as Big Red).
Sency Brent Summers Jr. (B.J.) was a cherished help and constant support until the very end and his legacy is carried on by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
John’s life has served as a shining example of dedication, hard work and compassion, a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. A memorial service will be held to celebrate John’s remarkable life and his family invites everyone whole life was enriched by his kindness and determination to join in remembering and honoring his legacy.
