John Henry Jackson made his transition on December 24, 2018. John was born to Henry Foster and Lizzie Jackson on August 8, 1947 in Eagle Lake, Mississippi. John Henry confessed his faith in Christ at an early age. He received his education at Greenville Public School in Greenville, Mississippi. John relocated to Illinois from Mississippi in 1966. John Henry was a dedicated and tireless machinist at Owens Corning. After 28 years of service to Owens, John retired in 2010.
John embodied the definition of what it meant to be a good man. John’s sense of belonging spoke volumes. He loved his wife and his family with complete humility. John will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his story-telling, and his knee-slapping jokes. When John wasn’t spending time with his closest friends and being the life of the party, he was enjoying his Westerns. John loved his Westerns. John explored many organizations but found his home at only one, The Fort Erie Elks Lodge of Joliet.
John Jackson is preceded in death by his parents Henry Foster and Lizzie Jackson, grandmother Nettie Booze, sister, Agnes “Jeanni” Jackson and brothers, Robert “Mickie” Jackson and Willie James Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Jackson (Smith); his daughters, Valorie Broome of Jacksonville, Florida and Tonya Wright of Joliet IL; sons, Corey and Anthony Wright; grandchildren, David and DaVone Broome of Jacksonville, Florida. Devonta Wright, Jalen Heath, David Hatten III, Corey Wright Jr., Arianna Wright of Joliet, IL. Vivica and Taneya Pena of Corpus Cove Texas; great grandson, Davion Broome and 2 great granddaughters, Kaylie and Mia Wright; many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as, relatives and friends.; a favorite auntie, Ida Mae Reed and special nephew, Derek Jackson; a devoted friend in Malcom Campbell.
