John Short was born July 22, 1930 in Sunflower, MS to the late Elex Short, Sr. and Sally Bell (nee Heath) Short.
John was a member of Local #75 until he retired.
He attended the Sunflower Public School System in Sunflower.
John joined St. Peters Church at an early age. After moving to Joliet, IL in later years, he united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he remained until his death.
John was employed at the Braidwood Nuclear Plant. He also worked at First National Bank in Chicago, IL.
On April 25, 2021 at 1101 Magnolia Street, he kept the faith and finished his course. God called him home to be at peach with him. John can now say, “Don’t worry about me.”
John was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Short; father, Elex Short, Sr.; mother, Sally Bell Short; son, John Short, Jr.; and three sisters, Emma Gates, Elsie Virginia Johnson, and Hattie Harris; one brother, James Louis Short; three nephews and one niece, and several uncles and aunts.
Those who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Martha Ann Short; his granddaughter, Sabrina Short; his brother, Elex Short, Jr.; special nephew, Kevin Short, Sr.; great-grandson, and a host of cousins and friends.
