John Robert Smith

John Robert Smith was born January 15, 1942. He passed away suddenly on February 25, 2021. He was born to Oscar and Luvenia Smith (nee Richardson).

He is preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Demetrius, Ronald, Oscar "Bub", August, James, Jerry, Lynell Smith, and Maymon Smith; sisters, Moselle Smith and Maydella (Robinson) Smith, Sandra Smith and Irene Foster. He is also preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Perkins of Joliet, Illinois.

A lifelong resident of Joliet, Illinois, Smith was educated through the Joliet Public School System and enlisted in the United States Army on September 28, 1967.  He worked many years and was a Mechanic and enjoyed collecting antiques.

John Smith leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jarvis Perkins; his daughter, Audrey Weaver and granddaughter, N-Yah Weaver; Brother, Laverne Smith (Grace) of Joliet, IL; Sister, Laura Burford (Bruce) of Bronx, NY; and numerous other relatives and friends.
