Johnny Adams was born April 8, 1957 in Pickens, Mississippi to Lourethea and Henry Adams Sr. of Pickens, MS. He attended Goodman Pickens Junior High and graduated from Durant High School. He moved to Joliet, Illinois in 1974 and in 1975 he met the love of his life; his wife, Sarah Ann Adams Garner. Anyone who knew him, knew he was the life of the party. He loved to dance and sing, he also loved to travel back and forth to Mississippi with his family. He loved going to the Barber Shop on Friday nights, spending time with his brothers.
He was a devoted brother, phenomenal uncle and a tremendous dad. Johnny touched so many lives during his time here in Joliet.
Johnny transitioned unexpectedly on Saturday, February 7, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife; and three beautiful children in Joliet, Illinois.
Johnny had a host of nieces and nephews, but he had one favorite niece, Michelle Johnson (Adams). He also had honorary cousins that he looked at as his brothers and sister; Bill, Tut, Archie, Ball and Alberta.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Lourethea and Henry Adams Sr.; two brothers, Willie C., Walter Adams, all of Pickens, MS; brothers-in-law, Willie and Richard Garner; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Garner, Mary Garner and Patricia Adams Garner of Joliet, Illinois; three nephews, Michael "Bigfoot" McDonald, Sonny Collins and David Garner Jr.; two nieces, Melissa Roberts and Marlene Garner.
He leaves to cherish his fondest memories; wife, Sarah Ann Adams (Garner); three beautiful children, Andre, Marcus (Kim) and Sharita, all of Joliet, Illinois; one granddaughter, Steveah and one great grandson, Jehivon, all of Joliet, Illinois; siblings, Henry (Mae) , Charles (Patricia-deceased), Rudy (Gwen), Eugene (Valerie), John (Emma); sisters-in-law, Thelma, Diana Garner; brothers-in-law, David Sr., Albert and Sylvester Garner, all of Joliet, Illinois; Lena Mae and Ora Mae of Pickens, MS; mother-in-law, Sarah Ann Lee and a host of other relatives and friends.
