Joseph L. Travis

Joseph “JL” Travis was a man whose love for his family ran deep, even if he showed it in his own quiet way. Born in Hattiesburg, MS. He carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life. Though his family moved to Illinois when he was young, he never stopped cherishing the place he called home and returned often to visit family and friends.

In 1961, he married Joyce, beginning a partnership that lasted 64 years. Together, they raised four children - Arthur Travis, Joseph Travis Jr., Curtis Travis, and Raine Travis. He may not have been the most vocal in expressing his feelings, but his commitment and presence were constant in their lives. He worked faithfully and Mancusso Cheese for many (until retirement), providing a stable foundation for those he loved.

JL's love was steady and endearing, a quiet strength that underpinned his family's history. Though he was reserved, his deep affection and care were always there, shaping the lives of those around him in ways that will be remembered with warmth and gratitude.

Joseph leaves behind his wife, Joyce Travis: four children, Arthur Travis, Joseph, Travis Jr., Curtis Travis, and Raine Travis. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Curtisha Featherstone; two grandsons, AJ and Drew Featherstone; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
