Jwaun Jones Obituary

Jwaun Latrell Jones was born September 11, 2002 to Lisa Ellen Wampler and Ernest Lee Jones, Jr. in Joliet, Illinois.  He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized by the late, Pastor Eddie L. Pierce and attended Saving Power Missionary Baptist Church.  He later attended God’s Gathering Place Church of God in Christ in Joliet, Illinois.

Jwaun attended Edna Keith Elementary School, A.O. Marshall and Thompson School and was currently a senior at Country Club Hills-District 160.

Jwaun enjoyed being with his family and friends. His favorite sport was basketball.  You could always find him dribbling a basketball and looking for the nearest basketball court.  He also loved listening to rap music.  His pit bull, Sheeba was his baby and she welcomed him home daily. Jwaun and his mother had a very special bond as he was her only child and he loved her dearly.  He would always joke with his mother as if he was her father and advisor.  Jwaun was wise beyond his years and had a gift for problem solving and figuring things out.

Jwaun is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lee Jones, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Gerald Wampler, Sr. and Barbara Wampler; paternal grandparents, Ernest Lee Jones, Sr. and Ora V. Jones (nee Davis), bonus grandmother, Annie Roberts; paternal aunt, Diane Jones, paternal uncles, Darryl Jones and Richard Jones.

He passed away suddenly on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.
