Keith Arthur Kimbrough was born June 26, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to Ralph Kimbrough Sr. and Ada M. Kimbrough (nee Bowie). He departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Keith attended Chicago Public Schools as a child but later graduated from Joliet East High School in 1978 and was privileged to tour with the Joliet East Band in Europe.
Keith accepted Christ at an early age at All Nations Church of God in Christ in Joliet, Illinois under the leadership of his late father, Supt. Ralph Kimbrough Sr. and continued in his faith. Keith served as the minister of music for several churches in the Joliet community. He ventured out and lended his gift to several ministries in Phoenix, AZ; including New Destiny Christian Church. He was called to the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ in March of 2021 at Boston Baptist Church in Memphis, TN under the leadership of the late Pastor Ydell Ishmon Sr.
Keith was an accomplished concert musician that excelled in Classical, Jazz, Contemporary and above all, Gospel music. He received his musical training primarily at the Chicago Conservatory of Music where he found his great passion for the classics. Gifted by God, his love of music was held captive by his gospel foundation in the Church of God in Christ. His love of music headlined him as he played in several Supper Club Venues in Las Vegas, Nevada and Memphis, Tennessee.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Chiquita Wilson on February 17, 2011 in Joliet, Illinois.
He is preceded in death by his father, Supt. Ralph Kimbrough Sr.; mother, Ada M. Kimbrough; brothers, Ralph Kimbrough Jr. and Edgar Allan Kimbrough.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his legacy; loving wife, Chiquita Kimbrough of Memphis, TN; loving seven children, Rashida Roberts of Kentucky, Isaiah Forbes of St. Louis, MO, Kiona Jordan of Las Vegas, NV, Havanna Kimbrough of Phoenix, AZ, Keturah (Aaron) Alexander of Crest Hill, IL, Victoria Kimbrough of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Felicity Kimbrough of Chicago, IL; stepchildren, Traci (Maurice) King of Plainfield, IL, Keyana Brown of Crete, IL, Deserea (Donte) Howard of Troy, IL, Joshua Brown of Homewood, IL and James Brown of Sauk Village, IL; two brothers, Pastor George R. (Bonita) Kimbrough of Plainfield, IL and Ronald (Thelma) Kimbrough of Lockport, IL; special friends, Pastor Samuel Mack Jr., Pastor Maurice Gregory, Willie “Al” Massey, Excell Amos, James Carr, Bernard McCann, Steve Harrison, Michael Williams and Gregory Peck Jr., several grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
