Kevin Lee Johnson, Sr.

Kevin Lee Johnson Sr., born January 10, 1958 to Sylvester and Willa Johnson.  He grew up in Joliet, Illinois.

Kevin gave his life to Christ at an early age.  He grew up as a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.  He sang in the choir, and was on the Usher Board.

He attended Providence High School, where he was All American in sports.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Providence.  He was a triple threat; he played basketball, football and ran track.  He played community basketball.  He made the Chicago Bears tryouts.  He played a short stint with Birmingham Stallions USFL.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Willa Johnson; grandparents, Elmetter and Franklin Johnson; Virginia and Albert Green; brother-in-law, Tracy Williams; great grandparents, Roy and Gertrude Robinson; and cousin, Louis Johnson.

Kevin passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Kevin leaves behind two children to cherish his memories, Nikia Shelby (Arthur) and Kevin Lee Johnson Jr. (Leslie); grandpa to Kevin Johnson, Aaron Stevenson, Cybil Johnson, Layla Johnson, Aaliyah Shelby, Andrew Shelby, Justin Johnson, Anton Jackson, Cameron Young and Anthony Jackson; brother to Rory Johnson (Gwen), Cheryl Williams, Karen Ward (Edward Sr.) and Eric Johnson.  He was uncle to Cheri Williams, Terrell Williams (Katrina), Derrell Williams, Brandon Johnson, Renaldo Johnson, Edward Ward Jr., Harrington Ward, Kyle Ward, Elijah Ward; great uncle to Terrell Williams Jr., Princeton Williams, Lyam Wiliams, Tarian Williams, Corey Ward, Elijah Ward, Kiah Ward, Requan Johnson and Xavier Johnson; cousins raised as siblings, Ann Johnson, Angela Johnson, Carl Johnson and Wongie Johnson.
