Laverne Smith Jr.

Laverne Smith Jr. was born July 30, 1953 to Laverne Smith Sr. and Grace Smith in Joliet, Illinois.

He attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet Central High School.

He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors, traveling and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by his former wife, Angelina Smith (2012).

He passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Laverne is survived by his children; Laverne Smith III (Kristen Bus), Daniel (Michelle) Smith of Bourbonnais, IL and Sara (Luis) Carranza of Joliet, IL; devoted parents, Laverne Smith Sr. and Grace Smith of Joliet, IL; cherished grandchildren, Laverne IV, Maria, Aubry, Marcelo Smith, Luis Jr., Layali and Laila Carranza; siblings, Oscar (Valeria) Smith of Covington, Kentucky, Eugene Sr. (Valencia) Smith of Biloxi, MS, Vincent Sr. (Vickey) Smith of Joliet, IL, Cheryl (Leonard) Riley and Nancy Smith, both of Joliet, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
