Ledean Thompson

Ledean Thompson (Harris) was born on April 27, 1943 in Farmhaven, Mississippi to the parents of Daniel and Sallie Harris. Ledean was baptized at Virgin Mary Church in Farmhaven, Mississippi. 

She was the second oldest of six children; all born to her parents, (Norrissa, Ledean, Matthew, Dorthy, Lizzie, and Eliza). 

After moving from Mississippi to Joliet, IL in 1968 with her children Rogeory, Marvis, Sharron and then baby Patrice, she went on to give birth to William, Timothy and Christoper in Joliet, IL. At age 45, she married her first husband, LD Johnson, January 11, 1984 later divorcing in 1988 and remaining best friends until the very end of her life. 

On June 18, 1994, Ledean married John Bill Thompson and remained married to him until his transition into heaven. 

Ledean was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, IL however, due to health reasons in recent years she was unable to attend. 

A beautiful woman inside and out, Ledean Thompson devoted her time to being present and available to her family as a homemaker as well as years spent as a Licensed Daycare Provider. She loved spending time laughing and in good conversations with her family and friends. In her earlier years prior to losing her eyesight, she enjoyed cooking, dancing, and creating a beautiful garden year after year. Ledean was known to have an amazing well kept yard with beautiful fresh flowers.

She was someone with a huge heart who loved deeply and created so many close relationships with so many people. Family whom she adored, and many friends that became Family. 

Ledean gained her wings on September 9, 2023 at the age of 80. She was surrounded in love by her children and grandchildren in the comfort of her own home until the very moment God called her to her Heavenly Home.

Ledean is preceded in death by her husband, John Bill Thompson, maternal and paternal grandparents, parents Daniel and Sallie Harris, brother. Matthew, sisters, Norissa and Eliza. 

She is survived by her seven children: Rogeory D. Harris (Kim), Marvis R. Tyler (Henry), Sharron L. Harris (Avery), Patrice Harris, William J. Harris (Stacey), Timothy D. Harris and Christopher F. Harris. 11 grandchildren: Elliott, Teisha Shoemaker (Brandon), Krystal Rogers (Julius), Delissa Cartwright (Jeremy), Tailor Harris, Willie Barefield III (Nagieh), Darnell Harris, Amanda Harris, Morgan Harris, Amaya Harris and Makenzie Harris. 11 great grandchildren: Brandon Jr, Paris, Breion, Kameron, Franklin Jr, Bryson, Braylon, Aaliyah, Blake, Jace and Savannah. 

As well as two sisters, Dorthy Abrams and Lizzie Fleming (Roosevelt), and a host of very special friends and family members.
