Days of Grace; The Loving Story of
Leni Walker-Fregia
On a warm fall day, September 16, 1974, breath of life was given to a precious baby, Leni Margaret Walker, in Mercy Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Leni was the youngest daughter of parents Alfred Walker and Joan DiBenedetto.
From an early age, Leni was the “life of the party.” She embraced her beauty and found joy in life’s simple pleasures— bike riding, playing in the park and spending time with her cousins. Her heart was full of joy, and kindness; her spirit was full of love and peace. More than anything, she was faithful to her family and friends.
Leni’s educational years were memorable experiences, earning her diploma from Oak Park River Forest High School. She attended Northern Illinois University and Lewis University in Joliet, Illinois, receiving a Bachelor Degree. After relocating to Danville, Illinois, she furthered her education by obtaining a second Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She pursued her nursing skills at several prestigious facilities. Leni was also a loyal member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Leni diligently attended New Hope Baptist Church for over eighteen years. She volunteered and served at the shelter with her good friend Vanessa.
The love story began in 1997, when Leni’s roommate Tiphany was showing her pictures. Intrigued of a particular person on a picture, Leni asked, “Who is that?” Tiphany responded, “Ray Fregia, Jr.” Leni then said, “…that’s going to be my husband.” Leni asserted her fate of love, before any formal introduction was made!!! Over ten years passed as love grew and before the New Year, Leni united in matrimony with her true love, Ray Fregia Jr. on December 29, 2007. This union blessed them with a beloved son, Trey Fregia.
Leni was preceded in death by her parents Alfred Walker and Joan DiBenedetto.
A life well lived, Leni Walker-Fregia gained her wings on Saturday, March 28, 2026. God looked around HIS garden and found an empty space; HE looked down upon Earth and saw she was tired; HE lifted her to rest.
Precious memories of Leni will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Ray Fregia Jr.; awesome and amazing son, Trey Fregia; brother- in -love, Rik Fregia; dedicated parents -in-law, Ray and Jewell Fregia Sr.; sister, Sherita; niece, Jasmine; nephew, Justin; great nephews, Eric and Milo and countless other relatives and friends.
Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories she left behind.
