Leodies Jordan Sr. was born in Luxora, AR on August 11, 1937, the only child of Mamie Hudson and Henry Jordan.
He attended elementary school in Luxora, and graduated from Woodstock Training High School in Shelby County, TN in 1953. For the next two years, Leodies worked on his grandfather, Amos Thompson’s farm in Tirana, AR where he picked cotton. Eager to increase his education, Leodies enrolled in junior college where he received an Associate Degree and move to Joliet, IL. In 1960, he began a four-year stint in the United States Army, and received his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. After leaving the military, Leodies moved back to Joliet and worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for the next 33 years.
Leodies had a number of passions in life, and these included his church, St. Paul M.B. Church in Joliet, studying his Bible, and his collections of different watches and antique model cars.
To his family, he was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him as a great man whose concern for others set him apart as a gentle, yet giant of a man.
Leodies is survived by his wife of 31 years, Leora; and his children, Vincent (Lori), Barbara, Malinda (Bernie), Leodies Jr., Ryan, and Pamela (Harold). Leodies’ life was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Thanking the Lord for our FATHERS. “A father has compassion on his children.” - Psalm 103:13
