Leon Brass Jr. was born on October 21, 1963, in Joliet, IL, to the union of Leon and Stella Brass. Leon attended the Joliet Public School System and graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1981. He later attended Grambling State University in Grambling, LA.
Leon was a well-accomplished trombone player throughout school and was part of the “World Famed Marching Tiger Band” at Grambling State, where he made a name for himself. While at Grambling, he pledged the fraternity band Kappa Kappa Psi and was given the nickname "Lemon Head." Being around Leon would always promise good times with laughs and jokes.
In 1983, Leon enlisted in the United States Army and served several years with a stint in Germany before he was honorably discharged.
Once leaving the military, Leon moved to Louisiana for several years before returning back home to Joliet. Leon gained employment at Amazon and the VA clinic.
Leon accepted Christ at an early age and attended Second Baptist Church during his early years. Leon was also well-versed in God's word.
On Wednesday June 17, 2026. Leon made his transition at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL. Leon is preceded in death by his father, Leon Sr., his maternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Williams, and his paternal grandparents, Willie Sr. and Callie Brass.
Leon leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Stella L. Brass; his devoted partner, Jacqueline Adams; two brothers, Lonnie (Susan) Brass, Lasalle Brass (Veronica); and one sister, Sharese (Charles) Bond, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
