Leonard Bernard Young was born on April 16, 1971, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Sylvia Maxine Young and the late Monroe Harvey Jr. He was called home to reunite with his loved ones and his heavenly Father on April 16, 2025.
Leonard attended Joliet Township Schools, where he developed a passion for the human services field, leading him to become a dedicated PCT for over 30 years. He was known for his kindhearted nature and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Leonard was baptized at an early age and was a member of Love and Faith Church under Pastor Ike Bass Jr. He was not just a caregiver; he was a great uncle, brother, and friend who cherished his family and friends and made a lasting impact on their lives.
He leaves behind a loving family who will hold onto his memory with great fondness. His siblings include Demetrius (Jessica) Young, Monica (Carmen) Holman, and Angela Woods. He is also survived by aunts, Mildred Young, Diana (Ike) Bass, and Loretta (Greg) Jones, as well as Uncle Anthony (Rosita) Young. Leonard was a beloved uncle to five nieces: Nicole Davis, Carmen Holman, D’metreya Young, Laylah Moore, and Phoenix Young, and four nephews: Deveonta (Desiree) Holman, Jaylandt Gilmer, Syntrell Young, and Carmelo Holman. He also leaves eight great nieces and nephews, a sister-in-heart, Valerie Mars, two best friends, Angel Hodge and Anna Lee, and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Maxine Young and Monroe Harvey Jr.; grandparents Dorothy Jean Young and Vandy McCarthy; uncles Clint Young and Patrick Young; and one niece, Josiah Onea Young. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
