Leroy Head was born on May 20, 1955 to parents, Thelma Gavin and George Summit in Joliet, Illinois. He passed away on July 27, 2024 after a tough battle with liver cancer.
Leroy Head, also known to many as “Tate or Roy Boy” was a person who loved to be surrounded by his family and loved ones. You could guarantee that visiting him on any given Sunday would award you with a good meal, lots of laughs, and sometimes and ear-full; all to the soundtrack of a Bears or Cubs game playing in the background.
Leroy was strong willed, and stubborn at times, but he also had a big heart and a great sense of humor. From hosting Disney movie nights with his nieces, to manning the grill at family parties, and dominating the table during a game of spades or pity-pat, Leroy has always been loyal, caring, and full of life.
Leroy is survived by his partner, Karry Dotson; his two children, Charles McSwain (Diana McSawin) and Chapri Paulateer (Jason Paulateer); his brothers, Sency Summers, Paul Summers, and Rosco Summers (Deborah Summers); cousins, Elaine Harris and Rogenia Starks, and close family members, Willie Dotson, Otis Stone (Anne Stone), Shirley Edwards, Charles Stone (Brenda Stone), and Cynthia Hicks (Victor Hicks).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Gavin and his father, George Summit. He leaves to cherish his memory his various loved ones such as his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
While his departure was expected, it still comes as a deep wound and is gravely felt by all those who loved him. Our family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.
