Lester Virece Farries was born on October 21, 1958 in Cairo, Illinois to the union of Excel Farries Sr. and Maggie (Jones) Farries.
Lester attended Calvary Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois where he accepted Christ and was baptized.
Lester attended Joliet Public Schools and graduated from Joliet East High School. Lester later served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge.
Lester was a painter by trade but the most fulfilling job he had was his time spent at Hines VA until his retirement in 2020.
Lester was a very loving brother and uncle. He loved to cook and feed family and friends. He seemed to never meet a stranger and could quickly engage in laughter with anyone.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gene, Excel Jr., Wendell, Clifford and Kelvin.
Lester's life and memory will be celebrated by his brothers, Marshall (Sherry), Stanley (Areta), Gary (Omaira), Brian (Brenda); his sisters, Rosemary, Joyce, Joan, Brenda, Carolyn (John) Rattliff, Vivian (Robert) Clayton, Sherry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His life and memories of him will also be celebrated by a special friend, Juanita Reed and her family.
