Lethel Mitchell Jr. was born on March 17, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois to Lethel Skinner and Alberta Mitchell, embarking on a life journey filled with purpose, passion and inspiration. He attended Von Steuben High School in Chicago, Illinois and later moved to Norwich, Connecticut, where he established a loving family and made a lasting impact as a devoted member of the community. 

As a dedicated father, he cherished his beautiful children and built a lasting legacy that would continue to inspire future generations. Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, Lethel founded two businesses; All Squared Construction and Black Canvas Painting Company which became his true passion and a testament to his innovative spirit.   
 

Lethel’s faith journey took a profound turn when he was baptized in Markham. Illinois in the backyard pool of his brother and sister ‘s house; marking the beginning of a deeper walk with God and a life of unwavering faith. He became a man of unshakable conviction. Committed to fasting and praying and inspiring others to follow in his footsteps. As a mentor to many young people in Connecticut, Lethel’s influence extended far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of countless individuals and leaving a lasting impact on his community. In his free time. Lethel delighted in cooking elaborate meals for his loved ones. With his signature dish, soul food being a particular favorite. 

He also enjoyed playing chess, fishing, watching movies, bowling and engaging in lively conversations with BIG MAN, Lil Kenny and Jessica Baker about games. Affectionately known as Shorty, ShorTay or Sleezy E. Lethel’s impact will be deeply felt by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift others.

He leaves behind his devoted, lovely mom. Alberta Mitchell-Lockett; his sister, Cody (Demetrius) and a legacy that lives on through his children. Tyann Mitchell, Kalani Mitchell, Ciana Mitchell and Ahmier Anderson; his nieces, Joi (Jenesis) and Destiny. and a host of sons and daughters he’s mentored, will continue to draw inspiration from his life and legacy, also a host of cousins.
