Limmie Anderson Obituary

Elder Limmie Ledell Anderson Sr. was born on January 16, 1943 in Holmes County, Mississippi to Reginald Anderson Sr. and Mira (nee Patterson)Morris. He departed this life on May 6, 2020 at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center.

Ledell, as he was affectionately called by many, worked at Sheffield Steel and retired in 2008 after 37 years of service. He was always helping someone, and he did it with absolutely no complaints.

Elder Anderson was  baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of the late Bishop Taliefero. He continued in service at the New Church of the Holy Ghost until he went to rest with the Master, under the leadership of Pastor Jerry L. Lyte.

One thing can be said about Elder Anderson is that he truly loved the God of his salvation. He often quoted the scripture, John 14:2-4,  “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”  His favorite songs were  “I Know It Was The Blood’, “Too Close To The Mirror” and “Order My Steps”. Whenever he testified, he would tell the Body of Christ, of the goodness of Jesus and that he was “Blessed and Highly Favored”.

Leaving in the hands of the Almighty is his loving and devoted wife of 45 years  (June 6, 1975), Cozetta Diane; three daughters: Joyce (Walter) Morgan of Virginia; Rachel (Anthony) Williams and Fran Jackson, both of Joliet; two sons: Limmie Jr. of Chicago and Anthony Anderson of Indiana; 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; six sisters: Jessie R. Fleming, Flexie Sly and Calechus Williams, all of Mississippi; and Cheri Anderson, Donna Lad Lonni and Regina Wheeler;  four brothers: Jessie (Barbara) Morris of Joliet; T.L. (Jessie) Morris of Alabama; Joseph, Reginald, and Alonzo Anderson; and his step-mother, Marie Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Ledell is preceded in death by his parents, Reginald Anderson Sr., and Mira (Robert Sr.) Morris; three brothers: Robert Morris Jr., Clarence Anderson Sr. and Roosevelt Anderson Sr.;  and one sister Stella Carter; two grandsons: Cedric Jackson and  Paris Jackson; five aunts and three uncles, grandparents, in laws, and one nephew, Roosevelt Anderson, Jr.
