Lonie Henry Obituary

Lonie Lee Henry, affectionately known as “Main,” was born on April 5, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois. A man of heart, humor, and hardworking hands, Lonie lived a life full of love, generosity, resilience and quiet strength.

In the 1990s, he relocated from his hometown of Chicago and laid down roots in Brownsville, Tennessee, and later moved to Summerville, South Carolina. With a strong work ethic and natural skill, he was a respected craftsman in the building trades, specializing in HVAC technology and home improvement for over two decades. Whether repairing a home or lending a hand, Lonie was the one you could always count on—he showed up with a smile and a solution.

Lonie was also known for bringing people together. He was the heartbeat of family gatherings—grill sizzling, music playing, and his famous catfish stew or signature barbecue cooking to perfection. For him, cooking was more than a talent—it was a way of showing love. The kitchen and the grill were his happy places, and feeding those he cared for brought him genuine joy and great conversations.

In his free time, he embraced the simple pleasures of bowling, shooting pool, and enjoying the company of those around him. His magnetic presence, laughter, and genuine spirit made him a beloved relative, friend and a cherished part of every community he touched. To know him was to feel seen, appreciated, and loved.

A man of faith, Lonie trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and Redeemer. He carried that faith with him throughout life and into his peaceful transition on April 9, 2025, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight of ten siblings.

Lonie leaves to carry on his legacy his beloved son, Lonie Lee Henry III, daughters, Lonisha Henry and Miracle Taylor and granddaughter, Phoenix Jackson. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who meant the world to him. Lonie held each of them close in his heart, and their love gave him joy, pride, and purpose.

To all who knew and loved him, Lonie will forever be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, laughter, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in every meal shared, every memory treasured, and every life he touched.

Today, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his family in heaven, resting in eternal peace.
